Choose the Volvo SUV That Fits Your Lifestyle and Budget

When compared to your standard sedan, SUVs and crossovers are generally more powerful and offer more spacious seating and larger cargo capacities. Volvo XC40

Volvo's luxury SUV lineup kicks off with the XC40. Though smaller in stature, its compact size allows it to fit where larger, more unwieldy models can't. It's a great option for Flemington drivers who want the practical utility of a crossover, while seeking to maintain a nimble footprint that's easier to maneuver on crowded streets. Additionally, the smaller overall size makes it lighter as well, giving it a better power-to-weight ratio when equipped with the T5 engine that is common to all Volvo SUVs.

Don't be fooled by its diminutiveness; the XC40's convenient size doesn't take away from it's utility or comfort. Inside the refined cabin there's comfortable seating for up to five riders, with plenty of room for groceries or errand running behind the second row. If you use all the seats, there's still 21 cubic-feet in the cargo hold. If not, the 60/40-split rear seats fold down, revealing up to 47.2 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity.

Equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the XC40 offers two powertrain options

• T4: The front-wheel drive XC40 T4 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 187 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.
• T5: The all-wheel drive XC40 T5 features a similar engine, but output increases to 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

Volvo XC60

Though still technically a compact crossover, the Volvo XC60 is 8-inches longer than the XC40. In addition to its larger size, the XC60 offers additional engine options, more features, and greater cargo volume than its smaller sibling. Its larger cabin size makes it ideal for smaller families who need a little extra roominess and carrying capacity. Cargo room with all seats in use is just shy of 30 cubic-feet. With the second row folded down, volume grows to 63.3 cubic-feet. And, if safety features are at the top of your priorities list, you'll appreciate that XC60 includes a full suite of advanced driver-aids as standard equipment, including:

• City Safety Collision Avoidance
• Lane Keeping Aid
• Road Sign Information
• Run-off Road Mitigation
• Oncoming Lane Mitigation

Equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Volvo XC60 offers three powertrain variants:

• T5: Matched with standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive, this turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is rated at 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
• T6: The all-wheel drive XC60 T6 finds motivation adds a supercharger to the turbocharged T5 powertrain, boosting output to 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
• T8 eAWD Plug-in Hybrid: The all-wheel drive XC60 T8 adds an electric motor and battery pack to the Twincharged T6 powertrain, increasing total system power to 400 horsepower, 472 pound-feet of torque.

Volvo XC90

The largest SUV in the lineup, and Volvo's flagship vehicle, the XC90 is a mid-size luxury crossover with loads of amenities, spacious seating, and capacious cargo volume. Its three-row configuration can accommodate up to seven riders and it also includes a full suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies on the base Momentum trim level. It's a superb choice for discerning Somerville families, or those who want the convenience of increased cargo space in a highly refined package. Seating for seven is standard, but a six-seat configuration is available when you opt for second-row captain's chairs; improving accessibility and passenger comfort.

The XC90's standard features list is lengthy and includes premium amenities like four-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, keyless ignition and entry, eight-way power front seats with driver memory settings, Volvo Pilot Assist partially autonomous driving, and a 9-inch Sensus infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.

Under the hood, the XC90 can be powered by the same three powertrains found on the XC60. The Rear two rows can be folded down in a variety of combinations, for up to 85.7 cubic-feet if maximum cargo capacity.
